BYTE is a top-down cyberpunk stealth-puzzle game about hackers, networks, and cyber-worms for PC, macOS and Linux. Player (as a too curious script kid) controls a sneaky cyber-worm and performs malicious deeds in the web. The nonlinear narrative takes place in the not distant, internet-dependent future, so the career opportunities are brighter than ever. Core gameplay may kinda remind of “Snake” from your old Nokia phone: every time you steal data, your cyber-worm is getting longer, which makes it harder to control and evade anti-viruses.
Well, it should be a game about mites, actually. They are literally DNK’s nightmare so he was considering to fight his fears through the making the mite simulator. Not sure when mites become cyberworms, but no one regrets, apparently.
- Mature, topical, nonlinear narrative without “good guys” and “bad guys”.
- Tons of mind-bending levels that differ from one another not only by complexity, layout and set of elements, but by gameplay mechanics.
- Economics. Ability to build your own level-server for storing and selling valuable data.
- Seamless always-on multiplayer. Crack other player servers, but do not forget to fortify your own.
